Salem participates in a government subsidized hot lunch program and receives government surplus food items and funds administered by the State of Missouri. The program specifies a type “A” lunch which is a nutritionally balanced meal for each child. Salem abides by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s non-discriminatory policy in administering the program within our school.
While government support does enable a more nominal fee to be charged for lunches, it is still necessary to make a charge. Lunch fees are approved by the Board of Christian Education and will be announced by final registration day. They are subject to change during the school year. In addition, all lunches, drinks, etc. are expected to be pre-paid.
Parents who lack the financial means to purchase or send an adequate nutritional lunch may receive lunches free or at a reduced price through the government hot lunch program. Applications are available in the school office or directly from the food service director or principal.
